More that 80,000 fans are wanted to attend Download Festival at Donington Park in Leicestershire on 10-12 June.
The Highways Agency said that major roads and motorways to Donington Park on Wednesday was expected to be committed.Around the East Midlands Airport for passengers traveling to those people to allow extra time was suggested.
Steve Parker, emergency planning officer for the Highways Agency, said: "Major roads and motorways in the area, including the M1, A42, A50 and A453, are likely to be busy.
"All routes to the festival will be well signposted, but people travelling in the area should plan their journey in advance and check the latest travel conditions before they set out."
At this year's event include acts are Def Leppard, Thin Lizzy, The Darkness and Skunk Anansie.
