Leicestershire Constabulary this year's Download festival project is complete

Leicestershire Constabulary this year's Download festival for music to touch the project is complete, the festival event which takes place at Donington Park.

Officials using Facebook and twitter on crime prevention messages that North West Leicestershire in 55000 who visited the three-day program are expected to ensure that I have been told. This Friday 10th and Sunday 12th June 2011 have been held between.

The country by large fans and police across Europe to use social media to protect their wealth in consultation with music fans before they have to come to the festival will travel.

DC Kev Walker said: "We had a great response to our Facebook pages in previous years and the support has grown again this year. It enables us to talk to fans across the country and answer their questions about security and crime prevention before they get to Donington. We've put lots of photos on our pages from the policing operation last year; the aerial pictures of the campsite are well worth a look.

"We recognise the increasing popularity of social media so we are using Twitter again this year as well.

"Download is a really good natured event to police and we want people to come to the festival and have great time, we don't want them to have their stuff stolen so our message is really simple, please leave valuable items at home or use the onsite security lockers and we're urging those people who arrive by car not to leave their belongings on display or their vehicle unlocked."

Inspector Chris Brown, who's in charge of policing Download, said: "Crime was very low at Download last year and we're hoping to have another low crime year. We always look forward to policing Download - the atmosphere is good natured and we have a great working relationship with the organisers. We'll have uniformed and plain clothed patrols on all the campsites and car parks throughout the festival to keep festival goers safe and make sure they have a great time. We had very little car crime last year but we do rely on music fans taking their stuff out of their car and not leaving anything on display.

"We are also urging people not to leave anything of value in their tent; to use a money belt or on site locker and to sleep at night with their valuables and phone safely out of site."
